Avocado, broccoli & kale powerhouse puree

Getting your babies used to more bitter and savoury flavours is important in the first year. This is a powerhouse green puree, with olive oil to add some good fats and flavour.

Preparation: 5 minutes | Cooking: 8 minutes | Serves 4 portions | Suitable from 6 months | Not suitable for freezing


  • 50g fresh or frozen broccoli
  • 50g kale, tough stalks removed
  • ½ ripe avocado
  • 2 mint or basil leaves (optional)
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil


  • Steam the broccoli and kale until cooked through, around 6-8 minutes
  • Drain the vegetables and blend with the avocado and olive oil and fresh herbs if using.
  • Tip: For older babies add in some yoghurt or cream cheese and make a delicious dip with raw vegetables
