Bananas come in hundreds of varieties, but we mostly know them as sweet bananas, which are the type we use in this recipe. Although banana plants look like trees, they belong to the same family as lilies and orchids and can grow up to 8 metres!

Bananas are an excellent source of potassium and vitamin B6 and a good source of vitamin C, fibre riboflavin, magnesium and biotin.

Bananas are available throughout the year, they do not have a growing season.
