Beating The Winter Blues

We’ve put together a few simple tips to help you beat any winter blues and get 2019 off to a flying start:

Eat your greens (& reds & yellows)

Eating a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, grains and proteins in balanced amounts will help keep your energy and blood sugar levels up through the dark winter days.

Create a calm zone

Life can be hectic and being constantly connected to technology could negatively impact your mood. Try turning the television off and putting phones and iPads away, instead play some chilled music to create a quiet and relaxed space.

Stay social

Spending time with friends and family is a great way to boost your mood. Maybe head to the cinema, take a winter country walk, cook a meal or simply go for a coffee together.

Try something different

If you’re stuck in the same old routine, it might be time to mix it up. Try a new hobby – anything from yoga to life drawing – or how about testing out a new recipe for that midweek dinner at home.

Get outside

Physical exercise releases endorphins, the feel-good hormone. Try walking instead of taking the bus, take a fitness class at your local gym or try out Buggyfit; they offer a fun way to get out and about with added bonus of making new friends!

Remember above all to take good care of yourself, rest when you can, congratulate yourself on what you have achieved and don’t sweat the small stuff.
