We’re all about getting involved with Red Nose Day with some delicious red grub! No need to break out the red food colouring, here are 7 red foods that are packed with health benefits – and deserve a spot on your plate.

1. Peppers

Did you know that red peppers are actually green peppers that have been allowed to ripen on the vine, resulting in them being so much sweeter? Peppers are rich in vitamins, particularly Vitamin C and antioxidant. They are thought to be one of the most nutrient-dense foods available.

2. Beetroot

Whether you blend it, roast it or drink it, beetroot can protect your heart, bones and body. Beetroot is low in fat, full of vitamins and minerals and packed with powerful antioxidants. Among the multiple benefits of this veg, it is also widely known that beetroot lowers blood pressure and may help to fight heart disease.

3. Sweet potatoes

Okay so maybe sweet potatoes aren’t exactly red, but this particular vegetable couldn’t be missed! Rich in fibre and an excellent source of vitamin A, not to mention that they are widely available, inexpensive and extremely delicious! This veg is excellent to eat boiled, mashed or roasted.
